At the request of CONSOB (the Italian Securities and Exchange Commission), the MPS Foundation announces that, contrary to reports in the press, the Foundation did not execute on 5 March 2014 any transaction on the computerized stock market nor did it enter into any sales contract concerning its shareholdings in the Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena.

The holdings of the MPS Foundation in the Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena are thus, as of 5 March 2014, 3,677,315,800 common shares, the equivalent of 31.48% of the capital stock of the bank.
