Lug 7, 2014 | 2014

The Deputazione Generale (Board of Directors) of the Monte dei Paschi di Siena Foundation, in their meeting today, named Maddalena Ragni a member of the board. Ragni takes the place of Antonio Paolucci, who resigned at the end of 2013. The choice was made after careful examination of the three names presented by the Consiglio Superiore per i Beni Culturali e Paesaggistici.
The Board of Directors is thus now made up of the following members: Sergio Betti, Egidio Bianchi, Barbara Lazzeroni, Alessandra Navarri (designated by the City of Siena); Vincenzo Cesarini, Simonetta Sancasciani (Province of Siena); Amedeo Alpi (Region of Tuscany); Carlo Guiggiani (Siena Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Artisan Work, and Agriculture); Bettina Campedelli (University of Siena); Alessandro Grifoni (Archdiocese of Siena – Colle Val d’Elsa – Montalcino); Riccardo Campa (University for Foreigners of Siena); Vareno Cucini (Siena Provincial Commission for Volunteer Work); Sergio Daolio (Italian National Research Council – CNR); and Maddalena Ragni (High Council for the Cultural and Landscape Heritage).

Maddalena Ragni, who holds a law degree, has held various administrative positions in the Ministry for Cultural Properties and Activities, including managing director of the Archivio di Stato in Parma and in Reggio Emilia, the Superintendency for Archeology in Tuscany and in Piedmont, and many more, before assuming the position of General Director for Landscape, Fine Arts, Architecture, and Contemporary Art. In 2002 she was awarded the high honor of Knight of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Italy, in 2003 she was named Official of the Order of Merit, and in 2008 was given the title of Commendatore.
She is the author of numerous publications on cultural properties.
